DRYADS

Dryads is a light strategy game for 2-4 players, and is currently under consideration for publication pending a final contract offer.

The game started a 2P only game with a theme of rats searching the sewers for items and things to salvage, before a more pleasant theme (bears collecting things from a forest) was implemented. When the publisher showed interest, they envisioned combining the game's mechanisms with fantastical nature artwork by Camilla Reis, and re-imagined the setting into her dryad universe. Hence the current theme and aesthetic choices.

The game revolves two core mechansims:

1. Double-sided cards with Dryads on one side and forest items on the other.

2. A 3x3 grid from which players draft.

Players will manage a hand of dryad cards, each of which has a specific pattern on it that corresponds to where they can draft from the grid. Players will use the dryads to collect things to complete sets, but will also contest majorities for the most of each dryad played, with the central tension being that it is not only what you collect that matters, but also what you use to collect it.

Since the publisher has started development on the game, it has expanded in player count, components, and mechanisms to something closer to a medium weight tableau building game.

At this stage, a late 2025 or early 2026 release is anticipated.
